About Dr. Jennifer Salib Huber, ND

Jennifer graduated from Acadia University in 1999 with a BSc. in Nutrition with honours. While completing her thesis on the role of garlic in treating high cholesterol she stumbled upon Naturopathic Medicine. She went on to complete a dietetic internship at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, NS before moving to Toronto to attend the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where she graduated in 2004.

In addition to being a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, Jennifer is also a Registered Dietitian and therefore has a strong focus on the role of food and nutrition in health and wellness.

She is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NSAND) and the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association (NSDA).

She's a strong advocate in her community and is on the board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Education (CEED).

She lives in Dartmouth with her husband Brent, daughter Maeve, and cats Monty & Lighty.

About Dr. Taryn Deering, ND

Taryn graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2003. While at Dalhousie, she volunteered as an athletic trainer and a strength and conditioning coach for several varsity sports teams.

Taryn then moved to Toronto to complete the 4 year ND program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). During her studies at CCNM, she had the opportunity to work as an intern at the Sherbourne Health Centre, treating people with HIV/AIDS. Taryn also worked as a Gynecological Teaching Patient, instructing University of Toronto medical students, sexual assault nurses, and midwives in how to perform gynecological exams with proper technique and sensitivity.

In 2005 Taryn traveled to Thailand to partake in a month long yoga intensive. She is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor and brings her experience of cultivating presence and mind/body connection into her treatments. She believes a healthy diet and lifestyle are the foundation to wellness, and aspires to educate her patients and encourage them to take an active role in managing their health

Taryn is a licensed naturopathic doctor registered through the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy (BDDT-N) and is a member of both the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NSAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

 


About Dr. Denise Wright, DC.

Dr. Denise Wright is originally from CapeBreton. She attended Acadia University for her B.Sc. in Biology and went to Toronto to study at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College for four years to become a chiropractor. She has been a chiropractor for over ten years and has worked in Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Dr. Wright enjoys being part of a health care team. “The patient really benefits when I have such great people to refer to- whether it is down the hall or up the street, “ explains Dr. Wright.

Dr. Wright lives in Dartmouth with her family.

About Jen Petley - Registered Massage Therapist

Jen Petley has been practicing massage therapy for 6 yrs since graduating with honors from Northumberland College in 2002. While in school she completed courses in pregnancy massage and myofascial release. Jen has additional training as a birth doula and hot stone massage. In the past 2 yrs she has completed certification as a personal trainer and aromatherapist. She loves to educate others and spent 4 years teaching Anatomy at the College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Bedford.

Jen's goal as a massage therapist is to help clients achieve pain relief, reduce tissue restrictions, improve joint mobility and thus restore quality of living. Through a combination of massage therapy and personal training, she provides activity modification advice. This will address the nature of postural imbalances and activity strain from faulty biomechanics. Functional training is used to improve posture, build muscle endurance and regain flexibility to prevent injuries.

Jen is passionate about helping others and is always eager to learn new ways to address her client's needs. Energetic and compassionate, her goal is to help others feel their best.

About Meghan L. Palmer - Registered Massage Therapist

Meghan is a recent graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, Bedford NS. She has experience treating a multitude of different clientelle and has both personal and professional experience with lower back injury and discomfort. Meghan also has experience working with the elderly and sports minded individuals pre and post sporting events. She has gained her Level 1 certification in Reiki, an ancient way of healing using energy, and has plans to further her knowledge in the future. Meghans' kind and patient manner as well as her warm heart are commonly expressed during her treatments. She has plans to add Reflexology to her knowledge and treatments in the near future.

About Meryl Cook MSc., PD Hom (UK)

In practice since 1996, Meryl finds the minimum dose approach (where the body is given a gentle stimulation to begin the healing process) of both Bowen and Classical Homeopathy to be very compatible. She works with people of all ages. She especially enjoys assisting at labour and delivery and working with multi-generational families. As a mother of 3 almost grown sons, Meryl brings lots of practical experience to her work.

Meryl holds an MSc in Applied Clinical & Industrial Psychology (Saint Mary’s University) and a PDHom (Practitioner’s Diploma of Homeopathy) from the Devon School of Homeopathy in the United Kingdom. Meryl is a registered member of the Maritime Society of Homeopaths and the Canadian Society of Homeopaths, and abides by their code of ethics. Meryl serves on the Board of Directors of Leave Out ViolencE (LOVE) Nova Scotia.

Meryl lives with her family in Dartmouth and is pleased to be working in her own community.In her spare time Meryl loves to knit with beautiful fibres, beachcomb for beach glass and ride on the back of a Honda VTX 1300 motorcycle.

About Kenton Sefcik  R.Ac.

Kenton Sefcik is a Registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner.  Graduating from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with a Diploma in Acupuncture and an honorary diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Kenton has been in practice for over three years.  Although he enjoys treating all types of ailments and conditions, he excels at treating anxiety and depression.  When he is not practicing acupuncture, he instructs for the acupuncture diploma program through Eastern College in Halifax.  In his free time, Kenton enjoys spending time with his family as well as practicing Wing Chun Kung-Fu.
